Your Questions About Selling Gold

Thomas questions…

Is there any thing that can be used to clean gold jewelry?

I have an ancient 14k gold bangle that is very dull. What can be used to shine it up. I’ve used jewelery cleaner didn’t work.

Gold Smith answers:

AMMONIA WITH WARM WATER WORKS REAL WELL

Mary questions…

All my gold in jewelry box has tarnished, why?

All my gold jewelry has tarnished. I place pieces of chalk in each drawer to keep the moisture out. I cleaned a pair of earings with baking soda and it worked. Do you know an simpler and quicker way?

Gold Smith answers:

There is a touch incorrect here. Silver tarnishes, Iron rusts. Gold does not tarnish, rust, or otherwise oxidize. It can get dirty, but I don’t know what has crud up your jewelry box.

Grandpa

Michael questions…

What is electro gold plate? In reference to jewelry?

I need to know about electro gold plated jewelry? Is it different from regular gold plated jewelry? Does it last longer?

Gold Smith answers:

It’s the exact same thing. How plating works is one wire is attatched to the metal you want to use as a plate, most commonly used on gold is rhodium. Next a wire is attatched to the piece of jewelry you want to be plated. Both wires are hooked up to a voltage regulator. One to the + side and one to the – side. A very low voltage low amperage current is used. Both the patron metal and the jewelry are bowl-shaped into a solution that promotes travel of metal molecules, depending on the metal the solutions differ. The molecules from the patron metal flow by the side of the electric current and attatch themselves to the jewelry.

So to make a long tale small, elctro plating is the same exact thing as plating just a more fancy term.

i reckon usa is going to play excellent play hard but this year with chicharito and de nigres its going to be 10 time harded for usa to win i reckon mexico is but i have my wores that adu and landon can make usa atleast score but like i said MEXICO 2011 GOLD CUP 3-1
the scores are

chicharito 42
chicharito 65
landon 82
de nigres 90+
who will win not how will win my terrible im stupid ….GO MEXICO

Gold Smith answers:

Mexico will win 2-1.

The United States will make it hard for Mexico. Their defense will use their tall and physical players to make it hard on Mexico. But EL TRI will out play them and out skill them. The United States team has way too many players on the down hill. And players like Adu and Josy Altidor are not living up to the high expectations that they had a few years ago.

Linda questions…

where can i mind a full replay of mexico vs usa gold cup final 2011?

if any person has it on dvr and are willing to share it with me please email me

What could I do to accessorize this dress?

I bought this dress online to wear to my aunt’s wedding. It came in the mail and I was very exited. I showed my mom and sister and they said it was cute but plain.
How could I add more to this dress? Purses, jewelry, gold, silver, shoes, belts? Would any of that be excellent? Any links or comments are appreciated!
Thank you!

Gold Smith answers:

I reckon you should go with metallic shoes and bag and maybe even headband. You could go silver or gold but im thinking silver. If metallic isn’t your thing you could go for really detailed shoes. Maybe strappy heels. Or flats if your tall. But it is a very cute dress

Helen questions…

NEED A GOOD SONG ASAP PLEASE?!!?

Me and this guy are having a song war, but he’s too much of a wimp to do anything else about it. All he’s been doing all year is playing mind games with me via the songs and in real life (on twitter for the songs). Then a week or so ago, I place up a song after his, and I reckon I was a bit “too direct’ with it (Run-Snow Patrol). He stopped putting any songs and only tweeted stupid sports crap for a even as, then both of us stopped tweeting anything for a even as. then last night, i tweeted a touch, and he responded with 15 steps by Radiohead (plz listen to lyrics). he’s such an ***. He’s the one who led me on then stopped, not me. What song can I use as a ‘rebuttle’ lol. A touch to place him in his place..not too too harsh. Somethign by the side of the lines of you can’t make up your mind/stop playing with me (Not hot n cold by katy perry) I still like him…I suck haha.

Your Questions About Selling Gold

Sharon questions…

What commodity or commodities (sugar? copper? nickle?) are below their cost of manufacture?

I read that it costs only $250 to $350 to make an ounce of gold and $8 to make an ounce of silver.

What commodities are selling now at a price per unit that is below their cost of production, then? At one time, sugar was selling for 2.5 cents per lb., whereas the Cost of Production was 6 cents per lb.

Thanks for all your answers.

Gold Smith answers:

Narrow your focus to commodities whose market price is not supply-demand related, typically occurring when a commodity is subsidized, tariffed/taxed, and when there are quota programs. Sugar meets many of these conditions. In additional markets rice, and coffee fit into this category. If you are looking at traded commodities, sugar, soy beans, rice, all receive various forms of state and federal subsidies in the US. Also, if your criteria includes green accounting concepts, be mindful of the negative externalities (i.e., pollution in refining) to determine the right cost of production.

A caveat is that even when market price is supply/demand related speculation can produce prices to be nonsensical. As we saw with oil

Another factor is locale of production. For instance, the cost to extract oil from the ground, sea, tar sand, etc. For ground, in the US the cost is likely mid to hight $20 dollar range (including R&D and exploration). If oil drops to the 20s, you will be in a circumstances where cost to produce is higher, and of course, they will shut down the pumps.

Tough question. Hope this helps.

Lizzie questions…

I’ve been told to start buying silver .999 silver due to the world as a whole printing more money then they –?

back with gold, and silver, at the moment gold £717 per oz and been told silver will increase, I feel looking at the market, there’s to much silver to be effective by buying troy ounces or even Kg bars, of course I am told providing we’re all still here, the silver .999 price through the roof is 10 years away and even now moving ever upward. What do you reckon of buying silver ?

Gold Smith answers:

Investing in silver is excellent in my opinion. The rates between silver and currency is going up, as much same as gold. But instead of using currency to choose whether silver is excellent or not, I’d like to use gold. In the past, the rate between 4.25 grams of gold (22 karat) and 2.975 grams of silver (99.9%) is 1/99. Nowadays, the rate between gold and silver as weighed above is about 1/47.

Btw, I’m wretched I can’t give you the fund link. I forget where I read it. :)

John questions…

Selling my silver, gold?

i was looking into selling my silver, gold at one of those places that says “we buy silver, gold etc” I was wondering wat i should question. how much they pay per ounce? and how much is a excellent price?

Gold Smith answers:

Those are rip offs, they will give you as small money for your jewelry as possible. And pawn shops are even worse! My grandpa really owns a jewelry shop and they give clad money for gold and silver, he cleans them and analyzes them and everything :) give me your info and maybe we can set a touch up? Your Questions About Selling Gold

Lizzie questions…

The economy doesn’t bother me?

The time has come to place my plot into action. I have collected over 4000 ounces of gold over the course of my life. Knowing the intrinsic value of gold, I shall now use the coins for currency. Do you know any stores that will accept my gold?

Gold Smith answers:

I would spend it soon. Gold, oil, and commodities don.t seem to be fairing any better than the market, which is weird.

Mark questions…

Shouldn’t we abolish the FEDERAL RESERVE and go back to the GOLD STANDARD?

A speech given to congress by congressman Ron Paul, MD:

Mr. Speaker, I rise to introduce legislation to renovate fiscal stability to America’s economy by abolishing the Federal Reserve. I also question unanimous consent to insert the attached article by Lew Rockwell, president of the Ludwig Von Mises Institute, which clarifies the benefits of abolishing the Fed and restoring the gold standard, into the record.

Since the creation of the Federal Reserve, middle and working-class Americans have been victimized by a boom-and-bust fiscal policy. In addition, most Americans have suffered a steadily eroding purchasing power because of the Federal Reserve’s inflationary policies. This represents a real, if hidden, tax imposed on the American people.

From the Fantastic Depression, to the stagflation of the seventies, to the burst of the dotcom bubble last year, every economic downturn suffered by the country over the last 80 years can be traced to Federal Reserve policy. The Fed has followed a consistent policy of flooding the economy with simple money, leading to a misallocation of resources and an artificial “boom” followed by a recession or depression when the Fed-made bubble bursts.

With a established currency, American exporters will no longer be held hostage to an erratic fiscal policy. Stabilizing the currency will also give Americans new incentives to save as they will no longer have to dread inflation eroding their savings. Those members concerned about increasing America’s exports or the low rate of savings should be enthusiastic supporters of this legislation.

Though the Federal Reserve policy harms the average American, it benefits those in a position to take advantage of the cycles in fiscal policy. The main beneficiaries are those who receive access to artificially inflated money and/or confidence before the inflationary effects of the policy impact the entire economy. Federal Reserve policies also subsidy huge spending politicians who use the inflated currency made by the Fed to hide the right costs of the welfare-warfare state. It is time for Congress to place the wellbeing of the American people ahead of the special wellbeing and their own appetite for huge government.

Abolishing the Federal Reserve will allow Congress to reassert its constitutional authority over fiscal policy. The United States Constitution grants to Congress the authority to coin money and regulate the value of the currency. The Constitution does not give Congress the authority to delegate control over fiscal policy to a central bank. Furthermore, the Constitution certainly does not empower the federal government to erode the American standard of living via an inflationary fiscal policy.

In fact, Congress’ constitutional mandate regarding fiscal policy should only permit currency backed by established commodities such as silver and gold to be used as legal tender. Therefore, abolishing the Federal Reserve and returning to a constitutional system will enable America to restore to the type of fiscal system envisioned by our nation’s founders: one where the value of money is consistent because it is tied to a commodity such as gold. Such a fiscal system is the basis of a right free-market economy.

In conclusion, Mr. Speaker, I urge my colleagues to stand up for working Americans by putting an end to the manipulation of the money supply which erodes Americans’ standard of living, enlarges huge government, and enriches well-connected elites, by cosponsoring my legislation to abolish the Federal Reserve.
i guess you are one of those people who never reads books or anything that takes longer than a few seconds to read.

Gold Smith answers:

The issues of the abolishment of the Federal Reserve and restore to the Gold Standard are two separate issues. Remember the Federal Reserve and the Gold Standard co-existed for decades before the U.S abandon the Gold standard.

*** Should we abolish the Federal Reserve?

To be replaced by what?

If you saying “Not anything”, then my answer would be: No.

What you are advocating there be no central bank authority. We can look at history for what it would be like without a central bank authority.

-There would be no national coordinated fiscal policy. Each bank would expand or contract confidence based on their immediate business needs, not the natons requirements.

- Smaller banks would be dependent on larger banks for confidence extensions, currency, etc. History has shown that larger banks often consider smaller banks as competition and didn’t care if they failed. (After 1935, the Fed was charged with looking after the overall health of the system)

- Federal Reserve notes would have to be replaced by…? Prior to 1913, there were 30,000 forms of currency being circulated. (Though states could not coin money, state banks could issue currency).

- The Federal Government would have to do it’s banking in large private banks

- In international fiscal matters, the nations largest private banks would speak for America

- There would be no stretch to the currency. You would see more cycles of inflation/deflation, and boom/bust as we saw in the 1800s

- Banks would restore to being audited soley by themselves in their shareholders interest. (After 1935, the Fed was charged with being the nations bank auditors to serve depositers interest as well.)

- Defrayal of checks would go back to private clearinghouses often run by large banks. Without an impartial clearinghouse, decisions in the process would sway headed for the private wellbeing that control it.

Or, are you saying replace it with a touch else rather than restore to the ancient days? If so, what would that be?

In reading Mr. Paul’s speech, it appears his complaint is not with many of the central banks operational functions but with fiscal policy.

*** Should we restore to the Gold Standard?

No, not if we can avoid it.

Virtually every industrialized nation was once on the gold standard at one time and abandon it as impractical. Going back to the Gold Standard seems so alluring but it is worthy of studying the history on it before proclaiming an opinion.

The #1 wits is that when you do foreign trade, additional nations will want the payment in gold rather than notes. Most countries, including the U.S. Abandon the gold standard as they saw reserves dwindling.

The #2 wits is the inelasticity of a gold standard. You can’t introduce new currency when the nation needs it. During the Fantastic Depression, the country looked-for more cash. But because it was locked to the gold standard, no new currency could be made. Roosevelt tried to deal with it by making private gold ownership illegal to increase the reserves, and to devalue the dollar (i.e. Less gold was used to back each dollar).

A well-known black mark on the Federal Reserve was when they raised the discount rate in the height of the fantastic depression. Yes, it was stupid but legally their hands were tied. Gold was flowing out of the country and the amount of currency they issued could not exceed the quantity that gold was backed.

A gold standard does address the persistent inflation issue. Instead it makes cycles of boom/bust with inflation/delation with the average inflation falling around 0%.

Current economic thinking is that a small inflation is a excellent thing. It acts like a tax on idle money and incentifies people to invest their money, therefore providing economic stimulous.

Deflation is terrible because it encourages people to sit on their money.

Too much inflation is terrible because people opt to exchange money for established assets rather than invest.

John questions…

Is our present concept of money flawed?

Is our present concept of money flawed? It is generally usual that money evolved from a system of barter involving the exchange of commodities of intrinsic or inherent value, latterly the use of scarce metals like silver and gold.

As a upshot of political tinkering over a period of time money has nowadays be converted into token-based controlled completely by bankers and politicians. Should we restore to a system where money has real value?

Gold Smith answers:

I’ve always wondered how a bunch of rich kids from privileged backgrounds in powerful positions could ever relate and help those from the poor.

Your Questions About Selling Gold

Donald questions…

How do you get the tarnish off gold jewelry?

The jewelry is not ancient or antique.

Gold Smith answers:

Always use jewelry cleaner (follow the instructions) or a mild solution of ammonia and water with a soft toothbrush followed by bubbly water, rinse, and dry.
Real gold doesn’t usually tarnish, it just gets dirty.

David questions…

How to make ancient gold jewelry look like new?

I have this ancient gold bangle but its kinda ancient and i was going to give it to my girl supporter for chrismas, is there anyhow to refine it or make it look new?

Gold Smith answers:

Unless you have some jewelry cleaner, you can make a mild ammonia solution and use a soft toothbrush to clean it followed by a thorough rinse with water.
Do not use toothpaste as it is an abrasive and will scrape the end.

Daniel questions…

Is it a weird thing that I don’t like gold jewelry?

Sometimes I reckon its weird for me that I wear additional colors besides gold jewelry (earrings, bracelets, etc.) I don’t like gold for some odd wits.

I like to wear silver and additional colors.

Gold Smith answers:

I don’t like it either…but do you know that there is such a thing as WHITE gold…? I like it better than silver and it doesn’t tarnish.

Chris questions…

Is there any website which gives price of gold per ounce now?

Please give me some excellent thoughts about price of gold per ounce now

There are many sites gives price of gold per ounce now but I would suggest you to visit http://ouncegoldprices.com/ because this site provides exact price of gold per ounce now information.

Daniel questions…

Why is the price of gold skyrocketing now?

As the socialist utopia of Greece starts its controlled collapse, is the price of gold a byproduct of stupid, left wing, socialist, policies?

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=GLD

Gold Smith answers:

I suspected the huge money was forming the past two month correction to shake out of the heavily margined positions. It’s a paranoid conspiracy theory, I know. But I refused to give in. I know what gold and silver should be at and this has been a fake low.

I can remember the Hunt “scam” with silver-so you know these things happen.

Girl, gold is at 1743 right this second.

David questions…

what is the price of 22k gold now in usa?

Gold Smith answers:

It depends on how many grams of it you are trying to exchange as 22k only tells you how much gold was infused with additional metals.

The equation is dependante on when you do it, as the price of gold changes every hour or so….what you estimate in the morning force be either less or more than what gold is valued at that same afternoon.

The price is given at a per ounce rate for pure gold (which is measured as a troy ounce) a troy ounce is the same as 31.1 grams.

Once you have the price per ounce of pure gold then you divide it by 31.1 to get the price per gram

example if the price per ounce is $800usd then you would divide 800 by 31.1

800/31.1=25.72

so at that rate, each gram of pure gold is value $25.72usd

pure gold is 24k so in order to determine how much gold is in your piece you would have to divide the amount of karats you have by 24. You can use this equation on any karate amount for gold.

In your case : 22/24=.9167

at this point you would multyply .9167 by the per gram rate you have calculated.

If we continue the example with the mock numbers we calculated above it would look like this:

25.72 X .9167= 23.58

so the per gram price for your 22k peice would be $23.58

after you weight your piece and figure out how many grams it has, just multiply that number by the price per gram you have calculated with the equations above.

———————————————————————————-

so to sum it up, if pure gold was value $800usd per troy ounce, then the price per gram of pure gold would be $25.72usd

a 22k piece has .9167 of actual gold in it.

One gram of 22k gold would cost $23.58usd

if your piece of gold weights 10grams, then it would have a value of $235.80 usd
