Can I melt a yellow gold ring and line the inside of a white gold ring with it?
I have already bought a white gold band for my spouse’s wedding band. I have a small gold band that I’d like to melt down to line the inside of the white gold band. Anyone know if this can be done?
Not plotting on doing it myself. Should have worded this better. Is this a touch I could have done by a jeweler?

Gold melts at 1,947F, well above any temperature you are likely to produce in your home. Contact a jeweler.
I’m not a jeweler myself, so I’m not sure how hard it would be to do. You force have to make the white gold band larger to accomodate the gold band inside and still fit it on your spouse’s finger. Any competent jeweler can advise you of the alternatives.

7% sounds on the high end – the usual standard in melting is around 5% loss. See if he will agree to a 5% loss.
As for how much gold, just keep in mind that whatever you give, you will get 5% less back – so if you have him 10grams, you will get a 9.5gram ring back.

The really simple money has been made in this latest bull market for the metals. Does this mean they can’t go higher still? Of course not. But the downside is greater than the upside. Plus, there’s the premium you pay when you buy, which amounts to more than the commission ‘load’ would be on a load mutual fund. There’s no costs associated with a CD, but nearly no chance at much of a restore. It’s safe, is about all.
I wouldn’t point out any of these options. I would place it into one excellent no-load mutual fund, one that has had the same manager with a proven track record for at least 5 years. Minus that option, I would place the money in a savings account and, on silver price drops of 10% or more, draw out only what you need to buy pre-1965 US 90% silver coins, which have the lowest premium over spot that you will find. It’s like dollar-cost averaging in silver.

Historically Silver to Gold price ratio was 1:26 Why is the ratio now slanted to Gold? Is Silver a bargain?
Ratio for Silver to Gold is about 1:50. Silver is about $12 per oz and Gold is $600 per oz. What is keeping Silver price from palpably rising?

I reckon silver is a fantastic buy right now. But, the worlds fiscal issues seem to greater than the supply/demand ration of silver. When fiscal issues (debasement) are the issue they will always run to gold before silver.

Is the spot price of silver in Troy oz?
I’m looking to sell some silver coins that are in Troy oz denominations. But, I have come to learn that a Troy oz weighs more than the standard oz. So if the spot price of silver is $22, I need to know if that is in Troy oz, or the standard oz.

I know Comex market prices are in Troy ounces. Also, be aware that not all silver coins are 100% silver. Some have additional metals added in for hardness.

Common Morgan dollars with average wear are value a bit more than their silver content. Morgan dollars up to 1904 go for about $35, Morgan dollars from 1921 for about $34. Peace dollars generally bring their silver value, which now is about $33. The amount they bring over the silver content is based on supply and demand. Those are retail prices, you would get a bit less if you were selling to a dealer.
Common circulated silver coins (halves, quarters and dimes) are valued for their silver content. The value is generally quoted in some number times face value. As of now, the value of the silver is about 30 times face value.

Ron Paul has talked about Ameicans using Constitutional money again, which is Gold & Silver, for the first time since 1933.
Can you adjust to that?
In additional countries when inflation gets too high {Mexico, etc.} they simply deduct 3 or 4 zero’s off their currency & call it the new Peso.
If America deducted say 3 zero’s from the dollar it would make $1,000 be converted into $1 dollar.
Then if that dollar was value 1/42.22 of an ounce of Gold it would work.
Example: Your $10, 000 car would be value $10 new dollars.
Mills would come into circulation. 1/1000 of a dollar.
The U.S. is supposed to have 8,130 metric tonnes of Gold in storage.
The U. S. Treasury values it’s stored Gold @ $42.22 per ounce.
1 tonne is 32,150 ounces. You do the math.
By the way this is not a conversion plot of Ron Paul.

Assume Freia is meeting on the floor with her knees bent and arms around her knees to be as compact as possible. We early pooring gold coins over her, to make a cone shape of 45 degree angles.
(It has to be a cone to be established.
The cone will have a diameter and a height of 1,5 measuring device. This gives a volume ( pi r^2 h/3 ) of 3.5 cubic meters. Subtract the volume of Freya, about 1.5 cubic meters. So we need 2 cubic meters of gold.
At a density of 19300 kg/m^3 that earnings 38,6 metric ton of gold or
1.4 million ounce. An ounce of gold being 625$ the fiscal value will be about 860 million dollar.

(1 pound= 16 ounces=454 g) ( Density=19.4 g/cm^3)

100 cm in a metre.
So 1 cubic metre = 100cm x 100cm x 100cm = (100 x 100 x 100) cm^3 = 1 million cm^3
weight = 19.4 g/cm^3 x 1 million cm^3 = 19.4 million g (g = grams)
= 19.4 million g / 454 g/lb = (19.4 million / 454) lb (lb = pounds)
= 16 x (19.4 million / 454) oz (oz = ounces)
So multiply that weight in ounces, by 1779.22 dollars per ounce.

We can wade through the words and write 2 equations. One is about weight, and the additional is about cost.
G + s = 15 (weight)
432g + 7.35s = 15 * 177.21 (cost)
Multiply each term in the first equation by 7.35 and subtract that equation from the second:
432g + 7.35s = 2658.15
7.35g + 7.35s = 110.25
______________________
424.65g = 2547.90
g = 6.00
Since g + s = 15, we now know there were 6 ounces of gold and 9 ounces of silver.

No, it is not an increase in demand. That is really an increase in supply.
Since more people need money, they are donation more of their gold for sale. The supply of gold for sale is thus increased.
An increase in demand for gold would be the opposite. Instead of more people wanting to sell, you’d have more people wanting to buy. An example would be a excellent economy where people have plenty of extra money. Since they have more money, they’d be able to buy more luxuries, and more people would want to buy gold. Thus, demand for gold would increase.

All my gold jewelry has tarnished. I place pieces of chalk in each drawer to keep the moisture out. I cleaned a pair of earings with baking soda and it worked. Do you know an simpler and quicker way?

There is a touch incorrect here. Silver tarnishes, Iron rusts. Gold does not tarnish, rust, or otherwise oxidize. It can get dirty, but I don’t know what has crud up your jewelry box.

What is electro gold plate? In reference to jewelry?
I need to know about electro gold plated jewelry? Is it different from regular gold plated jewelry? Does it last longer?

It’s the exact same thing. How plating works is one wire is attatched to the metal you want to use as a plate, most commonly used on gold is rhodium. Next a wire is attatched to the piece of jewelry you want to be plated. Both wires are hooked up to a voltage regulator. One to the + side and one to the – side. A very low voltage low amperage current is used. Both the patron metal and the jewelry are bowl-shaped into a solution that promotes travel of metal molecules, depending on the metal the solutions differ. The molecules from the patron metal flow by the side of the electric current and attatch themselves to the jewelry.
So to make a long tale small, elctro plating is the same exact thing as plating just a more fancy term.

Mexico will win 2-1.
The United States will make it hard for Mexico. Their defense will use their tall and physical players to make it hard on Mexico. But EL TRI will out play them and out skill them. The United States team has way too many players on the down hill. And players like Adu and Josy Altidor are not living up to the high expectations that they had a few years ago.

I reckon you should go with metallic shoes and bag and maybe even headband. You could go silver or gold but im thinking silver. If metallic isn’t your thing you could go for really detailed shoes. Maybe strappy heels. Or flats if your tall. But it is a very cute dress
